A deadly shooting occurred at the Allen Premium Outlets, an outdoor mall located in the small suburb of Allen, Texas.
The shooting reportedly happened around 6 pm on Saturday, and police were seen sweeping stores as if searching for the shooter more than two hours after police were called to the scene.
It is still unclear if there have been any fatalities, but there have been reports of multiple victims.
Shoppers were seen fleeing the sounds of gunfire in footage of the frantic scene that is currently circulating on social media. Citizens were also seen being escorted off the premises, many with their hands on their heads and looking visibly distraught.
Shocking aerial photos show at least four bodies lying outside an H&M store, suggesting that there were indeed fatalities.
The scene is still active, and local police have yet to confirm any arrests. It is unknown how many people were affected by the shooting, and details regarding the incident remain limited. However, according to a mother whose car was pierced by two bullets as she fled the scene with her young daughter, multiple shots were fired and the shooting was nonstop.
The incident is a tragic reminder of the ongoing gun violence problem in the United States. According to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit research organization, there have been over 140 mass shootings in the US in 2023 alone.
Gun violence has become a significant public health issue, and it is important that policymakers and law enforcement agencies take action to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
This shooting has also reignited the debate over gun control laws in the US. While some argue that stricter gun laws are needed to prevent such tragedies, others argue that gun ownership is a constitutional right and that stricter laws would not necessarily stop shootings.
Regardless of the political debate, it is clear that something needs to be done to address the ongoing issue of gun violence in America.
