Nasarawa State University, Keffi Introduces Health Information Science Program

NSUK Set to Commence Health Information Science Program

In the 2023 Academic Session, the Nasarawa State University in Keffi is set to expand its academic offerings in the field of medical and allied sciences. The University will introduce Health Information Science, as announced by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed. The announcement was made during a meeting with the Association of Nigeria Community Health Workers and their Health Information Management counterparts.

According to Professor Suleiman, the introduction of Health Information Science will complement the three community health programs already approved by the University. He further noted that this addition will enhance the value of the upcoming College of Medical and Health Sciences.

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor also informed the delegation about the Center for Excellence in Cold Chain Management. The center plans to train technicians who will produce and market medical equipment. The Vice-Chancellor directed the visiting delegation to tour the University’s facilities to prepare for the commencement of the programs. He also requested them to come up with a proposal and time frame for the takeoff of the programs.

The Chairman of the Board of Community Health Workers, Mr. Sule Toma Galadima, and the Secretary, Mallam Bashir Idris, expressed their gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the audience and opportunity. They assured him that they would work within the stipulated time frame so that the University could achieve its target.
