With the possibility of a national shutdown approaching on Friday, we examine which routes, landmarks, and regions in Gauteng may be impacted.
THESE AREAS MAY BE AFFECTED IF THE NATIONAL SHUTDOWN DOES HAPPENS.
According to reports, the National Shutdown protest will be joined by prominent unions and taxi associations, bringing the country to a complete standstill. SANTACO and the NTA have both distanced themselves from the strike, with none of these organizations confirming their participation.
Documents from security firm Fidelity have been extensively circulated, supposedly showing contingency measures for a nationwide shutdown on Friday.
The goal of this study, according to the documents, is to provide information on the potential national shutdown on June 10, 2022.
THE DOCUMENTATION HAS BEEN GONE VIRAL.
“The EFF is the only organization that publicly voiced their support for the national shutdown on the 10th of June 2022. Nonetheless, the contradictory nature of the taxi associations’ statements in this regard poses a threat. Indeed, although the taxi associations’ latest media statements either denied support or remained inconclusive, the taxi associations could still possibly become involved in the national shutdown,” the report says.
