The horrifying footage depicts a fight between a rat and pigeon as the rodent tries to pull the bird across the sidewalk.
The rat’s fangs dug deep into the pigeon’s flesh as it battled to escape its tight hold. The rat pulls the two across the pavement while the bird tries to flap its wings and fly away.
The videographer follows the two as they flee beneath a Mini Cooper while a spectator nonchalantly cruises past the altercation on a bike.
On June 20, the video was posted with the page’s million followers on Instagram, and it has since gained a lot of attention. The website is well-known for its collection of bizarre New York sightings, which includes clips of rats climbing on people and individuals feeding avian flocks.
It’s not the first time that rats and pigeons have been witnessed fighting in the city. The two species have a history of openly resolving their conflicts.
In Brooklyn, a similar viral video of a city bird and rat from 2015 showed the rat winning once more.
