Nigeria Labour Congress Announces Nationwide Protest Against Unfavorable Government Policies

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared that a nationwide protest is set to take place on August 2, across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The protest is in response to what the NLC perceives as unfavorable policies by the President Bola Tinubu-led government, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy.

The NLC’s state branches have mobilized their members, ensuring they are prepared for the protest.

The dissatisfaction mainly stems from the removal of fuel subsidy, which has led to increased petrol prices, affecting the poor and exacerbating economic hardships.

The involvement of workers, civil society organizations, and affiliate unions underscores the widespread discontent and desire for change.
