Accusation and Request for Warning
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), faced backlash online after she called on Nduka Obaigbena, the chairman of Arise TV, to reprimand his anchors, Ayo Mairo-Ese and Ojy Okpe, for allegedly making false accusations against her.
The controversy arose from Mairo-Ese’s analysis on Arise TV, where he criticized the comments of YouTuber Emdee Tiamiyu during a recent interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Defending Nigerian Youths and Personal Response
Mairo-Ese argued that Tiamiyu should not be criticized, highlighting previous disparaging remarks made by President Muhammadu Buhari and Abike Dabiri-Erewa about Nigerian youths.
In response, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, a former broadcast journalist, took to Twitter to defend herself, emphasizing that she had worked hard to achieve her current position.
She warned that those who attempt to bring her down with baseless accusations will face consequences and called on Nduka Obaigbena to intervene and address the situation.
Resurfaced Tweet Exposes Previous Controversy
In light of the recent events, social media users uncovered an old tweet from Abike Dabiri-Erewa, in which she strongly criticized someone who had berated her for defending the underperforming administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The resurfaced tweet further fueled discussions and debates surrounding Abike Dabiri-Erewa’s views and actions.
It is important to note that the quoted tweet from Abike Dabiri-Erewa referring to Nigerians as cultists and drug peddlers has resurfaced and gained attention in the context of the ongoing controversy.
