Nigerian banks have started emailing their customers that the Naira Mastercard can no longer be used for payments in foreign currency begining from 31st of December, 2022.
This absolute limitation on the Naira Mastercard follows series of reduction during the year 2022 when the international spending limit started dropping from $100 to $50, then to $20, $15 and finally, now $0.
Nigerians who want to make foreign payments can now only use the Dollars Mastercard obtainable in their local bank branches and fundable in dollars. The Dollars Mastercard has no limit for online transactions, but has a $1000 daily withdrawal limit for cash withdrawal.
