Nolan Smith, the two-time CFP national champion outside linebacker for the Georgia Bulldogs, made a big impression on NFL scouts during the NFL scouting combines.
Smith’s draft stock had taken a hit after he suffered a tear in his pectoral muscle, which caused him to miss the remainder of the season.
However, his combined performance showed his elite talent, including an impressive 4.39-second 40-yard dash, a 41.5-inch vertical, and a 10-foot, 8-inch broad jump.
Smith also delivered an emotional and heartfelt speech in memory of his teammate, Devin Willock, who died in a car crash after the Bulldogs’ championship parade.
Smith spoke about his strong connection with Georgia and the lessons he learned there.
He emphasized the importance of hard work and recounted his own experiences moving hay bales after workouts in south Georgia.
As the former No. 1-overall recruit in the class of 2019, Smith’s success at Georgia and the combine should not be surprising.
Smith is one of several standout Georgia players headed for the draft this year, and his impressive combine performance could see his stock rise alongside theirs.
Jalen Carter and Broderick Jones are also potential top-15 picks from Georgia.
