…By Jack Sylva for TDPel Media.

Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, a prominent figure in Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has strongly criticized the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, for his involvement in the ongoing crisis within the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization.

Isiguzoro argues that Obi’s participation in what he deems an “illegal presentation” of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as the new President of Ohanaeze displays blatant hypocrisy.

Obi’s Alleged Double Standards and Personal Interests

Isiguzoro, who serves as the Secretary-General of the Chidi Ibeh-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo, expressed bewilderment at Obi’s actions, particularly considering the former Anambra Governor’s legal battle to reclaim his mandate due to alleged electoral irregularities in the 2023 presidential election.

Isiguzoro finds it contradictory that Obi would support illegality in the Ohanaeze crisis while simultaneously seeking justice for himself.

Obi’s Move Seen as Self-Serving and Detrimental to Ndigbo

In a statement released on Thursday morning, Isiguzoro firmly asserted that Obi’s involvement in the appointment of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as Ohanaeze President-General indicates a prioritization of personal interests over those of the Ndigbo community.

Isiguzoro highlights that the procedures outlined in the Ohanaeze Constitution for the replacement of a President-General were disregarded by the Obiozor faction, emphasizing the absence of the term “appointment” in the organization’s lexicon.

Obi Exposed as an Advocate of Injustice and Illegality

Isiguzoro further criticizes Obi for his contradictory stance, claiming that his presence at the Enugu event where the Ohanaeze constitution was allegedly disregarded exposes him as a man who selectively supports injustice and illegality when it aligns with his personal ambitions.

Isiguzoro asserts that Obi’s actions undermine his credibility and demonstrate a lack of genuine concern for the wellbeing of the Ndigbo community.

Iwuanyanwu Appointed as Replacement for Late Prof George Obiozor

It is worth noting that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu was appointed as a successor to Prof George Obiozor, who passed away after battling an illness.

The appointment itself has been a source of contention within Ohanaeze Ndigbo, with critics highlighting alleged procedural irregularities.
