LAS VEGAS — Oleksandr Usyk is the best boxer in the world, according to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, when asked who he believes is the best boxer outside of himself.
Alvarez returns to the ring against Gennady Golovkin on a Matchroom on DAZN card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.
It is Canelo’s first fight since his shocking loss to Dimitry Bivol, who boxed magnificently in the same venue earlier this summer to secure one of the year’s most impressive victories by outpointing Saul Alvarez with a baffling style of feints, triple jabs, and superior ring craft.
According to Insider, the outcome shook up various lists of boxing’s finest male fighters, lifting athletes like Usyk to the first spot, placing Bivol in the top ten, and dropping Alvarez to fifth place.
Canelo believes that Usyk is the best because to his abilities.
In London, Oleksandr Usyk defeats Anthony Joshua.
Alvarez stated in an interview sponsored by his main sponsor Hennessy prior to his third bout with Golovkin, “Usyk is No. 1 in the world.”
Usyk is undefeated in 20 professional boxing matches, is undoubtedly one of the two finest cruiserweight boxers in history, and defeated Anthony Joshua twice in the past year.
Alvarez responded affirmatively when asked if he chose Usyk due to his uncontested position as the champion at 200 pounds, having won the World Boxing Super Series tournament in that class, and his ability to outbox and outthink bigger fighters at heavyweight.
Canelo replied, “That’s why” “His skills.”
Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, the main card of “Canelo vs. GGG 3” will air on DAZN pay-per-view in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
