The Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) for the Environment Agency’s Southern region is looking for a new independent member.
From Kent and Sussex to Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, committee members deliberate on the financing and delivery priorities for flood risk management projects throughout the south-east of England.
Applications are encouraged from those who are actively involved in managing flood risks, come from a variety of backgrounds, and have an interest in or expertise with:
Local flood discussion or action groups
engineering and building
Planning your space
Accounting and finance
Asset administration
Managing recovery and resiliency
Conservation
land management and farming
the corporate world
According to Sally Harvey with the Environment Agency:
This is a wonderful chance to actually change something.
As a participant in the Southern RFCC, you will contribute to the development of alliances that provide funding and project delivery for regional communities vulnerable to the devastation of flooding.
Members are appointed as independent individuals in their own right, not as representatives of any specific organisation, and the post is voluntary.
The representation of the communities served by committees is crucial.
All public appointments are made on the basis of merit and are done so in a fair, transparent, and open manner.
Committee members can submit reasonable expenditures for the four meetings they are required to attend each year.
the deadline
Applications must be submitted by Friday, September 2, 2022.
The week of September 19th, 2022 will include interviews.
