Wednesday, February 2, 2022 – The International Criminal Court has allegedly responded to Deputy President William Ruto’s disturbing letter of looming violence ahead of the August polls.
This is after The Hague-based court deployed its team with a clear mandate to record and document any violence at the August 2022 presidential election.
Ruto’s allies took to social media to celebrate the new development that they believe will deter President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga from instigating violence against them.
In a letter addressed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and copied to the ICC prosecutor, Maina said they were concerned about recent deeply worrying security incidents.
She noted that the incidents were sustained by officials’ “inaction and connivance” by the state.
While sharing on his Twitter account, former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale said the ICC team might have already landed in Nairobi ahead of the much-anticipated polls.
“In preparation for what is expected to be a tense election campaign, international Criminal court prosecutor Karim Khan has dispatched a legal team to Nairobi to gather potential proof of election violence,” said a report alleged to be from the ICC.
