The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has now released the official adjusted fuel prices for March. These increases will take effect from the 2nd of March (midnight on Tuesday).
- Petrol (both 93 and 95 ULP & LRP): R1.46 per litre
(146.00c/l) increase. - Diesel (0.05% sulphur): R1.44 per litre
(144.36 c/l) increase - Diesel (0.005% sulphur): R1.48 cents per
litre (148.36 c/l) increase; - Illuminating Paraffin (wholesale): R1.21 per litre
(121.00 c/l) increase. - SMNRP for IP: R1.61 per litre (161.00 c/l) increase;
- Maximum LPGas Retail Price: seventy cents per kilogram (70.00 c/k
increase.
The fuel and petrol price increase for different zones will be announced on the 1st of March.
The Department of Mineral Resources says the surge is due to the Ukraine invasion and the resulting international sanctions.
“The escalating crisis between Russia and Ukraine which led to a surge in
crude oil prices amid supply fears. As well as subsequent sanctions on Russia by the USA and UK which have contributed to the increase in crude oil prices.”
