Photographer Darrian Traynor visited Nurdağı, Turkey, after devastating earthquakes struck.
Walking around the crumbled city and into the camps, Darrian was humbled by the people and their response to his presence.
The people made him feel welcome, even with the prying lens of his camera and offered him food and drink during his visits. They only asked that they are not forgotten.
Türkiye suffered a devastating blow, but the generosity and spirit of the people of Nurdağı have not been crushed by the earthquake.
On February 6th, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake followed by a second 7.6 magnitude quake struck northwest Syria and southern Turkey, causing widespread destruction.
Betul and her husband, Fikret Gomosh, were sleeping when their house began to shake.
A wall of their home collapsed on top of their daughter, who was rescued and sent to the hospital, where her physical and emotional recovery can begin.
The couple lived in a car in front of their home for 10 days before a tent was donated.
Throughout the series of 41 images, the photographer captured the aftermath of the earthquake in Nurdağı and Antakya, Hatay Province, Turkey.
The images show the extensive damage, rubble, and destruction, with people searching through debris and lining up to receive donated aid from volunteers.
The images also show makeshift tent camps and temporary schools, with children playing and families cooking meals.
The Turkish military members can be seen walking through the rubble, warming themselves by a fire, and preparing meals for people living in tents.
Despite the devastation, the people of Nurdağı show resilience and strength, sharing moments of joy and keeping their spirits high.
The images capture both the heartbreak and the hope, with the people asking for help and support but not losing their sense of humanity.
The photographs are a testament to the strength and determination of the people affected by the earthquake and a reminder that, in times of crisis, communities can come together to help each other.
