Lucas Ashton, an 11-year-old kid who died after being struck by a bus in Bolton, has been identified.
Friday at approximately 1:40 p.m., Lucas was riding his bicycle when he was struck and injured on Vernon Street, according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).
Tragically, despite the presence of emergency personnel, the child was pronounced dead at the site.
Specialists from the GMP continue to assist Lucas’s family and loved ones. Following the event, police stated that the bus driver was “assisting officers with their investigations.” No arrests have been made.

Saturday, neighbors of the crime scene reported that the community was startled and heartbroken by Lucas’s death.
Leoni Johnson stated that she watched the aftermath of the tragic accident and heard the ‘horrific’ sobs of the boy’s mother.
She stated that she ‘couldn’t watch’ as emergency vehicles inundated the road.
Ms. Johnson stated, “I went to the store, and when I returned the road was overrun by cops.”
There were riot vans in the alleyway. I heard the mother wailing and yelling. It was horrible.
“As a mother myself, I was unable to watch; I had to go inside.” The news informed us that he had passed away. It is every parent’s greatest fear.’
She stated that children frequently ride bicycles down Vernon Street and other local roads.
Ms. Johnson stated, “There are so many small children playing up here, including mine.” It’s a pity. Yesterday was Christmas, and today is New Year’s Eve. I cannot fathom what this family is experiencing.

Another neighborhood person reported that the incident had stunned the town.
“It is utterly heartbreaking. Yesterday was quite creepy and depressing.
You just knew, even before we realized he had died away. There was a negative mood. It is a very tight-knit community.
Around here, everyone knows everyone else. It has startled the region. You simply do not believe something like this will occur on your property.
At the site of the collision, floral condolences to Lucas were placed.
On one bunch was written, “Fly with the angels.” Sleep well, lovely. Constantly in our thoughts.
Officers continue to urge members of the public, especially those who were on the bus in question, to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) of the Greater Manchester Police at 0161 856 4741 or 0161 856 8802.
The depicted bus remained at the scene following yesterday’s collision.
A section of Vernon Street was sealed off pending the conclusion of the police investigation.
Officers are requesting that any witnesses to the collision come forward or provide any footage of the incident they may have.
