Prior to his murder, Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock stated that he was almost robbed on multiple occasions and was concerned about robberies targeting rappers in Los Angeles.
On Monday, Rock, whose birth name was Rakim Hasheem Allen, was assassinated while dining with his girlfriend at a Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles. In an interview with DJ Akademiks on September 2, Rock, 30, expressed concern about “brazen” armed robbers targeting rappers in Los Angeles.
“Where I’m from, people like cunning crooks,” he explained. In Los Angeles, it’s as though they’re daring.
During the interview, PnB Rock also said that on a different occasion, he, his child, and his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang were nearly robbed while being followed by another car.
According to KTLA, assailants approached Rock and his companion while they were eating lunch at Roscoe’s on Monday and demanded his chain and jewelry before shooting and killing him.
His partner had tweeted that they were eating at Roscoe’s, leading some to suspect that the perpetrators tracked them down in a manner similar to how the late Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was identified through an Instagram story that unintentionally included his home.
Rock stated in his interview with DJ Akademiks that he stopped frequenting nightclubs due to his fame and his brother’s death.
He remarked, “I’m not going to put myself in those circumstances because I know what occurs in them.” “I never got robbed. Never in my entire lifetime I won’t say never because I dislike using that phrase… I’m not superstitious or anything, but I’ve never been robbed “he added.
