An investigation has been launched by the police following reports of an 11-year-old girl being approached by a man in Brynmawr.
According to Gwent Police, the incident occurred on an unnamed road near Wesley Buildings and opposite Market Road at approximately 3.45pm on Tuesday, May 16.
The man allegedly attempted to grab the young girl while she was walking but she managed to escape unharmed.
Description of the Suspect and Vehicle
Authorities have provided a description of the suspect involved.
He is described as a white male, approximately 60 years old, with grey hair.
At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing black jogging bottoms and a black hoodie.
The man was said to be driving a small silver van.
Enhanced Police Presence and Public Assistance
Detective Superintendent Michelle Chaplin, the senior investigating officer, assured the public that there may be an increased police presence in Brynmawr and Nantyglo.
She encouraged individuals not to be alarmed and urged anyone with concerns or information to approach the officers.
The police have implemented additional patrols in response to the reports of suspicious behavior.
Appeal for Information and Potential Witnesses
Gwent Police are seeking information from anyone who was present in the Brynmawr area, particularly along Limestone Road, Wesley Buildings, Chapel Road, or Market Road, between 3.30pm and 4pm on Tuesday, May 16.
Authorities are particularly interested in reviewing any CCTV or dashcam footage from these locations, as it may provide valuable information to assist with their inquiries.
