Police think Grace Hughes’ abduction is ‘detrimental’

No trace of 5-year-old Grace Hughes has been discovered in over a week, and police worry her alleged abduction will be ‘detrimental’

Grace Hughes and her mother Laura Hinks, aka Laura Bolt, were last seen in Berrimah on August 9.

After a supervised parental visit, Ms. Hinks, 34, and her daughter disappeared from Hidden Valley Road at 1pm.

Police are searching for those they suspect are hiding Grace as a 50-year-old woman gets accused in her disappearance.

Detective Superintendent Kirsten Engels claimed Grace was being concealed and called for tips.

Ms. Engels added, ‘We know there will be individuals in the community who can help us. They’ll know where Grace is.’

“Do the right thing and contact police with whatever information you have, no matter how minor.”

Supt Engels said the 5-year-old must be restored to school and her pals.

‘Whatever obstacles are blocking her homecoming should be dealt with appropriately,’ she added.

She said authorities are using every resource, including the possibility that the duo travelled interstate.

‘Our major worry is Grace’s welfare and safety, knowing this would be a stressful situation,’ she added.

It might harm her mental health.

Last known address was Moulden, however she no longer lives there.

A 50-year-old woman was charged in Grace’s disappearance on Saturday.

The lady was apprehended overnight in Anula, Darwin’s northeast, and accused with abducting and trying to abduct a child under 16.

She’ll appear in court on Monday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jon Beer claimed the lady wouldn’t help discover the youngster and her mother.

Police will utilise every resources to find Grace.

Ms Hinks’ last known address was in Moulden, however she no longer lives there.

Grace has brown eyes and hair. Last seen wearing a white dress, white socks, and black shoes.

Her mother is fair with black hair and eyes.

She was last seen wearing a floral-patterned ankle-length dress or skirt and a white or cream long-sleeved top.
