Prior to dating his now-wife Meghan Markle, Prince Harry acknowledged in a forthcoming interview that he was “probably bigoted.”
The Duke of Sussex made the remark in an upcoming “60 Minutes” interview, which will appear on Sunday, when criticizing the British media’s treatment of Meghan Markle and its attention on her race, according to a Thursday clip of the interview.
“What Meghan had to endure was similar in some ways to what Kate Middleton and Camila [the Queen Consort] went through — very different circumstances, but then you add the race element,” he told Anderson Cooper of CNN.
Harry stated that he did not anticipate the media to be so biased.
“I entered this extremely naive,” he stated. “I was unaware that the British press was so racist. I was undoubtedly prejudiced before to my friendship with Meghan.”
In an interview with 60 Minutes, Prince Harry said he was likely racist before he began dating Meghan Markle.
“You believe you were prejudiced before to your relationship with Meghan?
” Cooper reiterated the question.
Harry said, “I don’t know” while shaking his head. Previously, I did not see what I now see.
Harry appeared on “60 Minutes” to promote his new — and recently leaked — memoir “Spare,” which will be released on Tuesday.
