The importance of developing a workable uniform scheme of work for the state’s Technical Colleges has been emphasized, with scholars and curriculum specialists being urged to do their best to produce one that would highlight the many benefits that technical education has to offer to the economy.
Princess Shola Daibo, the Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, made this charge during the opening ceremony of a four-day workshop conducted by the Delta State Ministry of Technical Education with the goal of adopting a consistent scheme of work for the state’s technical colleges.
‘’As professionals in your subject areas, your knowledge of the subject matter must be brought to bear through the quality of work to be achieved at the close of this workshop,”she urged.
Routine school inspections found that the teaching sequences of the various technical colleges were not in sync, which necessitated the convening of a workshop to produce a synchronized scheme of work, according to the commissioner.
Still speaking, she stated that a uniform scheme of work, which is a detailed, logical, sequential plan of action that interprets the syllabus, would make the teaching and learning process more systematic and orderly, as well as assist teachers in planning lessons ahead of time and budgeting for time, space, and other resources.
Academic professionals and curriculum development experts from various academic institutions across the state attended the event.
Professors S.I. Akinseinde, L.Bratte, and K.Umunadi, all of DELSU, and Prof. A.Ojugo, of FUPRE, will serve as panelists/facilitators during the session.
