During a recent appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Queen Latifah discussed her early career and revealed that she previously had to include a “no death clause” in her contract.
“You know, towards the beginning of my career, my characters died in the movies, and allegedly I died my ass off,” Latifah quipped on Thursday’s broadcast of the talk show when questioned about her unusual contract clause. “I thought, ‘If I keep dying in these movies, I can’t do a sequel.’”
According to the “Living Single” actress, she immediately instructed her staff to include a “no death provision” in her contracts.
“Therefore, we sort of tossed it in there,” the rapper said, calling the provision “a little spur-of-the-moment humor.”
“I was like, ‘No more dying. “No more being shot by 300 bullets in this car,” stated Latifah.
Barrymore remarked that most celebrities’ contracts contain a nudity provision, telling Latifah, “I appreciate that yours is a no death clause.”
“I replied, ‘No, you can display my butt if you must.’ Here’s my butt, live,” the “Girls Trip” star responded with a joke.
In addition, Latifah and Barrymore discussed Latifah’s show “The Equalizer” and the rapper’s friendships with Adam Sandler and Dolly Parton during her Thursday appearance.
