Rabale’s Penalty Secures Victory for Sundowns Ladies against University of Pretoria

Boitumelo Rabale continued her impressive start to the season as she scored the winning goal for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies against the University of Pretoria.

The match, which took place at Groenkloof Stadium on Saturday afternoon, ended 1-0 in favour of the reigning champions, who remained unbeaten in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

The game began at a frenzied pace, with both teams keen to assert themselves.

Despite their new status in the league, the University of Pretoria almost took the lead in the 7th minute, but their effort was saved by Sundowns goalkeeper Sedilame Boseja.

The match remained tightly contested, with neither side able to score a goal in the first half.

In the second half, Sundowns Ladies made a tactical substitution, replacing Karabo Dhlamini with Chuene Morifi to bring more wing presence to the team.

As the visitors pushed for a goal, Boseja was called into action again.

Eventually, Rabale scored the winning goal with a well-taken penalty, securing her third goal of the season.

Late in the game, Lebohang Ramalepe and Chantelle Esau were introduced for Nonhlanhla Mthandi and Lehlogonolo Mashigo as Sundowns Ladies held on to their lead to secure their fifth win in six games.

After the match, Rabale praised her team’s resilience and focus, while Bambanani Mbane expressed delight at securing a clean sheet.

Chantelle Esau, who came off the bench to make her first appearance of the season, was thrilled to be back on the pitch and contributing to her team’s success.

The win meant that Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies retained their lead in the table with 16 points from six games, recording five wins and one draw.

They are now preparing for a highly anticipated match against TUT Ladies Football Club in the Tshwane Derby.
