A recent survey indicates that in the contest for the Georgia Senate seat, Republican Herschel Walker is ahead of Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock.
A new poll shows Republican Herschel Walker with a lead over Democratic incumbent Raphael Warnock in the race for Georgia’s Senate seat
In January 2021, Warnock defeated Sen. Kelly Loeffler to win the Georgia Senate seat.
While most recent polls have Warnock ahead of Walker, Emerson’s most recent survey of Georgia voters was place in April, when Walker had a four-point lead.
In a recent poll conducted by the University of Georgia and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Walker is three points behind Warnock.
In contrast to Warnock’s dominance in the cities, Walker has a secure lead there. However, Emerson reports that voters in the suburbs are siding with Walker by a nine-point edge – 50 to 41 percent.
Brian Kemp, the governor of Georgia, is now even farther ahead of Stacey Abrams, the Democratic challenger, 48 percent to 44 percent.
President Biden is unlikely to have much influence in the contest given that just 42% of people think he is doing a good job, while 57% think he is not. According to the study, former President Trump would defeat Biden in a hypothetical contest in 2024 51 percent to 46 percent.
The survey was conducted after Biden announced his plan to cancel student loans, which was meant to bolster Democratic support ahead of the midterm elections. Nevertheless, young people in Georgia between the ages of 18 and 34 gave Biden the lowest approval rating of any age group, with only 34% favoring him and 66% disapproving.
36 percent of Georgians still rank the economy as their top worry, followed by 20 percent by access to abortion and 15 percent by crime.
Walker, who is running on a message that is culturally conservative, constantly links Warnock to Biden’s plans and the increase in crime. He has been open about his difficulties with mental health after a slew of disturbing allegations of domestic abuse stalled his candidacy.
His eyes would get very wicked. knives and weapons. I had a few choke encounters with him. Walker’s ex-wife, Cindy Grossman, made the statement in an old video clip used into a new attack ad against the athlete-turned-Senate candidate. “The first time he had the pistol to my head, he held the revolver to my temple, and said he was going to blow my brains out,” Grossman stated. From 1983 through 2002, the couple was married.
Walker discussed the claims of domestic abuse with Axios in a December interview.
‘I’m always accountable to whatever I’ve ever done,’ he said. ‘And that’s what I tell people: I’m accountable to it.’
‘Just like I broke my leg – I put the cast on. It healed,’ he claimed.
