Republicans in the House Oversight Committee want to know if Hunter Biden lived in President Biden’s Wilmington house and conducted “international business deals” while sensitive documents were stored in the garage.
Rep. James Comer, chairman of the Oversight Committee, observed that documents on file with his committee indicate that Hunter Biden’s driver’s license indicated the same address where the documents were discovered as recently as 2018.
Comer stated in a letter to White House Counsel Stuart Delery, “The committee is concerned that President Biden stored classified documents at the same location where his son resided while engaging in international business transactions with U.S. adversaries.”
Comer requested details on any classified materials collected by Biden aides at any location, as well as exhaustive names of everyone who searched for documents and every site that had been searched. Additionally, he requested all contacts between the White House, the Department of Justice, and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
The White House acknowledged the discovery of a second cache of sensitive documents at the president’s private house in Wilmington, Delaware, on Thursday.
Rep. James Comer stated in a letter to White House Counsel Stuart Delery, ‘The committee is concerned that President Biden stored secret information at the same place where his son resided while participating in foreign business negotiations with United States adversaries.’
Comer stated that documents on file with his committee indicate that Hunter Biden’s driver’s license had the same address where the documents were discovered as recently as 2018.
Biden previously stated that the records were in his garage, but made no allegations of wrongdoing.
Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked the president earlier, “So the documents were in a locked garage?”
Yes, as well as my corvette, he responded.
President Biden’s attorneys performed a search of his Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach residences following the November 2 discovery of sensitive materials from the Obama White House at Biden’s think tank office.
Democrats have generally refrained from open criticism of Biden regarding the materials. Rep. Adam Schiff, former head of the Intelligence Committee, stated that it is cause for ‘alarm’ whenever secret documents are discovered in inappropriate locations.
Thursday, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters, “I have complete confidence in President Biden.”
Jeffries stated, “I believe he is taking all the necessary steps to determine what occurred and how to move forward in a responsible manner.” Furthermore, I am convinced that he will continue to do so.
The White House has stated that the initial cache of records was discovered days before the midterm elections while office space was being cleared out and was immediately turned over to the National Archives.
Biden stated that he was’surprised’ to discover the initial documents and was unaware of their contents.
Biden stated, “I was briefed on this discovery and surprised to learn that any government records were taken there to that office.” But I do not know what the documents contain. My attorneys have not advised I inquire about the nature of the materials.
