Rishi Sunak praises Mail’s cancer initiative

Sunak said he is “glad” to support the Daily Mail’s fight against pediatric cancer today.

The Prime Minister praised the collaboration between this article and Cancer Research UK and said that more work needs to be done to end pediatric cancer. He also backed the “great” cause wholeheartedly.

The Fighting to Beat Children’s Cancer campaign, which is generating funds for research into children’s and young people’s diseases, has been launched by The Mail in collaboration with Cancer Research UK.

The government said last month that it will devote £22.5 million to the research and development of novel treatments, including targeted vaccinations and techniques for early detection.

“The NHS is detecting people with cancer at a far earlier stage than it did in the past, but we still need to do more to enhance the treatment and outcomes, especially for children.”

“That is why we are creating over 100 community diagnostic centers around the nation, providing two million tests, scans, and checks locally, and spending tens of millions of pounds in cancer research that might save lives.”

Together, we can defeat cancer, and the Fighting to Beat Children’s Cancer campaign is a very welcome addition to that effort, Mr. Sunak said.

The government aims to replicate the tactics that were successful in obtaining and disseminating the Covid vaccination.

The funding will be a part of the NHS Cancer Programme, which seeks to detect 75% of cancers in their first or second stages by 2028.

The program also aims to assist 55,000 additional individuals annually in surviving for at least five years following diagnosis.

One in five children with cancer diagnoses die from the disease each year in the UK, where there are about 500 deaths per year.

By 2040, cases, according to Cancer Research UK, will have increased by a fifth.

All funds raised will go toward the charity’s efforts to combat cancers that affect children and young adults, enabling more people aged 0 to 24 to survive with a high quality of life.
