»Russia bombards Ukraine with waves of missiles, while the United Kingdom promises to send tanks«
Saturday, Russia bombarded Ukraine with a double barrage of missiles, forcing residents to take cover barely hours after morning strikes destroyed vital infrastructure in Kiev and Kharkiv.
The intensified attack coincided with the United Kingdom’s promise to send tanks to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian government stated that its air defenses were attempting to intercept incoming missiles, but the Ukrainian national station Suspilne claimed that explosions continued to be heard in the central Vinnytsia region.
Since October, Russia has been bombarding Ukraine’s electrical infrastructure with missiles and drones, resulting in widespread outages and delays to central heating and running water as winter approaches.
The second offensive Saturday occurred barely hours after reports of explosions in Kiev prior to the blaring of air raid sirens, which is exceedingly unusual. Uncertainty surrounded the amount of any damage or casualties caused by the second wave.
Saturday, Russia launched a second wave of missiles at Ukraine, causing civilians to take cover.
The attacks occurred barely hours after crucial infrastructure in Kiev and the eastern city of Kharkiv was devastated by morning attacks.

During the initial wave, no injuries were reported, but missile debris ignited fires and damaged apartment buildings and other properties outside the city, according to officials.
Approximately 55 kilometers west of Kyiv, the residential area of Kopyliv was severely damaged. According to Oleksiy Kuleba, the regional governor, the explosion damaged or broke the windows and roofs of 18 privately owned residences. And in south-central Ukraine’s Dnipro, a missile struck a high-rise apartment building, killing at least five people and wounded 27, including six children, according to a reporter on the scene.
The BBC claimed that the missile strikes also prompted emergency blackouts in at least eleven Ukraine districts to conserve power.
Officials reported that missile debris ignited fires and damaged apartment buildings and other properties outside the capital.
On a road not far from Soledad, Ukraine, medics of the Ukrainian Army transport an injured soldier.
Politico said that the strikes occurred after the United Kingdom promised to supply tanks of the next generation to Kiev following a conversation by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“The Prime Minister outlined the United Kingdom’s ambition to increase its support for Ukraine, including through the provision of Challenger 2 tanks and additional artillery systems,” the UK government said in a statement issued on Saturday.
Following Saturday’s attacks, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, requested additional support from foreign leaders.
Since October, Russia has been bombarding Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure with missiles and drones.

“Every missile barrage further depletes Russian stocks,” he said. “However, they can still manufacture new ones. We can and must destroy their missile and drone industries with a massive sanctions campaign!
“I urge the G7 and the [European Union] to immediately implement the sanctions proposed by Ukraine.”
Separately, according to AFP, Turkey stated on Saturday that it is prepared to press for a truce in Ukraine and warned that neither Moscow nor Kyiv has the military capability to win the war.
According to Oleksiy Kuleba, the governor of Kyiv, the explosion damaged or broke the windows and roofs of 18 privately owned houses.
A foreign policy adviser to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ibrahim Kalin, stated that it is improbable that the warring parties will reach a “overarching peace agreement” in the next months. He noted, however, that the harsh cost of war may soon cause them to reconsider and accept truces in certain battle zones.
“Turkey is willing to advocate for local ceasefires and small de-escalations,” Kalin told reporters.
