An investigation into the deaths of two persons who were murdered when a small aircraft crashed in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Sunday has been launched by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (Sacaa).
According to Sisa Majola, a representative for Sacaa, the plane took off from Grand Central Airport for a training exercise and was scheduled to land there again.
“There were two passengers on board the aircraft, both of whom died from their wounds. According to Majola, who noted that the incident has been reported to Sacaa’s accident and incident investigations branch, the aircraft itself suffered significant damage.
In 30 days from the day of the tragedy, according to Majola, a preliminary report into the accident would be made public. Although initial reports said three persons had perished in the small aircraft crash, the Emer-G-Meds crew found only two bodies.
“It has been discovered that there were two passengers on board and tragically they were fatally injured,” said Gregory Critchley of the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre.
