Sam Bankman-prison Fried’s diet in the Bahamas consisted of a jar of peanut butter, according to the disgraced FTX founder awaiting trial on federal fraud charges.
“I spent a considerable amount of time trying to determine how far a jar of peanut butter could take me,” Bankman-Fried told Puck News.
“It was a little precarious for a while,” Bankman-Fried said of his health while he was incarcerated in Fox Hill, the notorious rat- and maggot-infested prison with a reputation for keeping inmates in extremely unclean circumstances.
Bankman-Fried, who spoke to Puck News from his parents’ house in Palo Alto, was arrested by Bahamian law enforcement officers last month after US federal prosecutors brought criminal charges related to the failure of his FTX cryptocurrency business.
It was stated that after Bankman-detention, Fried’s his family contacted the prison where he was being housed and requested vegan meals for him.
The 30-year-old former crypto billionaire, whose fortune once reached $26 billion, was given his own cell in the maximum security part of the prison.
Last month, Bahamian police arrested Bankman-Fried after US prosecutors filed fraud allegations.

Bankman-Fried was not permitted to receive visitors because to COVID-19 rules at the prison, which a warden previously described as “unfit for human habitation.”
He was scheduled to remain in jail until at least February 8, but he made a deal with US prosecutors to withdraw his extradition fight.
Bankman-Fried was released on a $250 million bond last month. Federal prosecutors have described his conduct of FTX as a “epic fraud.”
Bankman-Fried stated in late November, prior to his arrest the previous month, that he had “almost nothing” left and “maybe $100,000 in that bank account.”
In a recent interview with Puck News, Bankman-Fried asserted his innocence and stated that he intends to defend himself in court.
“Yes,” he responded when asked if he planned to prove his innocence. This is the plan.
Due to their ongoing concerns for his safety, his parents arranged for a 75-pound German shepherd named Sandor to be by his side.
Bankman-Fried told Puck News that the private security guards his parents hired to defend the $4 million Palo Alto mansion where he is staying recently prevented a citizen’s arrest attempt against him.

Bankman-Fried also disclosed that his former friends no longer communicate with him.
