Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, did not receive an invitation to the historic Coronation service of King Charles III but has since sent her congratulations to him and Queen Camilla.
Despite not attending the event, Ferguson tweeted out her well-wishes.
The former wife of Prince Andrew has only attended a few royal events since their divorce in 1996, with her last official appearance at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
Ferguson was not the only member of the Royal Family absent from the service, with young Prince Louis reportedly retiring from service part-way through the event.
Meghan Markle was also absent, with reports suggesting that she had no intention of attending due to backlash received over a South Park episode that lampooned her and Prince Harry.
Sending good wishes despite snub
Ferguson’s gracious tweet of congratulations to King Charles III and Queen Camilla shows that she harbours no ill-feelings towards them despite being snubbed from the Coronation service.
The Duchess has maintained a relatively low-profile since her divorce from Prince Andrew, but her social media presence allows her to remain connected to the public and the Royal Family.
Although it is unclear why she was not invited to the event, it is clear that Ferguson has chosen to take the high road by offering her congratulations and well-wishes.
Her tweet serves as a reminder of the importance of graciousness and goodwill, even in the face of perceived slights or disappointments.
