Sharjah Crown Prince chairs Executive Council meeting

SHARJAH, 17th May, 2022 (WAM) — Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) in its meeting today expressed grief and sorrow that affected the people of UAE, their leadership, and the Arab and Islamic nations with the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The council observed that with his death, the world has lost a wise leader who had great contributions in the humanitarian and development fields locally and internationally.

The meeting held in the Ruler’s office was chaired by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of Council.

In attendance were H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.

The council recalled the achievements of the late Sheikh Khalifa, and his long career that spanned over more than 50 years in serving the country with sincerity, dedication and great concern for the development and advancement of the country, and fulfilling the needs of citizens and the initiative to provide them in all emirates.

The council also affirmed that the election of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President of the UAE is the best successor to the best predecessor, and His Highness will complete the cultural journey of the country in the footsteps of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the leader of empowerment the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The meeting discussed a number of topics on the agenda, which included reviewing the progress of government business and development plans, and discussing future projects.

Sharjah Executive Council issued Resolution No. (13) for 2022 regarding the regulation of Tourist guide profession in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the resolution included various provisions and legal articles that regulate the profession in terms of licensing requirements, practicing the profession and its obligations, and the competencies of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority in implementing the provisions of resolution.

The council approved the data management and governance programme for the Government of Sharjah, which aims to manage government data according to a comprehensive methodology and practical framework that addresses the data life cycle, and includes the establishment of an operational structure at the emirate level, inventory and identification of all government data assets, and assessment of the digital value of data components as part of the transformation plan Digital in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The programme will include the application of a unified and centralised methodology for sharing government data, enhancing its quality and security, and managing its participation in accordance with the best international practices in the field of government data management.

The council reviewed the amendments of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) on the draft law to reorganise the Labour Standards Development Authority in the Emirate of Sharjah, and directed SCC to submit the draft law to H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for issuance.
