Shocking Incident: Ohio Teen Accused of Assaulting Def Leppard’s Rick Allen in Florida

A teenager from Ohio has been charged with assaulting Rick Allen, the one-armed drummer of Def Leppard, outside the Four Seasons hotel in Florida.

Allen was in Florida to perform with the band at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

When he stepped outside for a cigarette, Max Edward Hartley, 19, rushed at him from behind a pillar and knocked him to the ground, causing him to hit his head.

Allen provided a statement to the police, saying that he wanted Hartley to be prosecuted.

Hartley then attacked a woman who rushed out of the hotel to help Allen, hitting her multiple times and dragging her by her hair before fleeing the area.

The police report confirms that Allen hit his head on the ground, causing an injury. Hartley was later arrested after being found breaking car windows at a nearby hotel.

He has been charged with two counts of battery, four counts of criminal mischief, and abusing an elderly or disabled adult.

He appeared to be on spring break in Florida at the time of the attack.

The band has not yet commented on the incident. Hartley was bailed after his arrest and declined to comment when approached by 7News.

He was asked if he was a Def Leppard fan, but he did not respond and instead held up his arms to cover his face, showing injuries on his elbows.

The band is currently on a world tour and will next appear in their hometown of Sheffield at Bramall Lane on May 22.
