Street brawl involving a large machete in Manchester city centre was caught on camera by several horrified shoppers on April 19.
The Greater Manchester Police has urged social media users to stop sharing the footage.
The incident occurred around 6:15 pm near the Arndale shopping centre on Exchange Square, with pedestrians walking past.
Witnesses reported seeing several police vehicles parked up beside a tram stop as officers rushed to the nearby Printworks.
Detective Constable Daniel Mather of the police’s City of Manchester Central Division stated that a 49-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The officer added that the police believed the alleged attack was “targeted.”
He went on to thank the public for sharing information with them, and urged the public not to share the video further.
Mather also informed the public that they could share information and details with the police through their website’s Live Chat service or by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.
He requested the public to call them on 101, quoting 2938 of 19/04/23.
