Mustapha Audu, the son of the late Prince Abubakar Audu, former governor of Kogi State, has issued an apology to Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for falsely claiming to have had a telephone conversation with him.
The spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Media Office, Diran Onifade, made this revelation in a statement, clarifying the situation.
False Reports and Impersonation
Earlier reports had circulated, alleging that Peter Obi had a phone call with Mustapha Audu and that Obi rudely hung up on Audu while he was asking questions.
However, Onifade set the record straight, stating that no such call had actually taken place.
It was revealed that Audu’s son had unknowingly spoken to an impostor impersonating Peter Obi.
Court Meeting and Apology
On Wednesday, the issue was brought to light during a court meeting between Audu and Obi.
Onifade explained that the young man, Mustapha Audu, was presented before Peter Obi at the court premises, where he realized that he had been deceived by a scammer.
It was confirmed that Peter Obi was actually in the air, returning from London, at the time when the alleged phone call was said to have occurred.
Mustapha Audu sincerely expressed his apologies to Peter Obi for the misunderstanding.
