The alleged mistress of former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth placed her hands on the revered football icon’s thighs and held his hands under the tables of South African restaurants they both frequented.
Bongani-Mthombeni-Moller also welcomed the retired football legend to her marital house without her husband, Klause Moller, or Matthew’s wife’s knowledge.
On Valentine’s Day, the claimed concubine also gave Matthew a bottle of cologne, and Matthew reciprocated by purchasing her flowers and baking a cheesecake.
These startling charges are contained in Sonia Booth’s responding affidavit filed in the Johannesburg High Court in opposition to Mthombeni-motion Moller’s for an order prohibiting her from publicly accusing her of destroying her marriage to the SuperSport soccer commentator.
Mothombeni-Moller, whose court complaint is supported by her husband and Matthew’s affidavits, is seeking an order to prevent Sonia from making “defamatory” allegations against her and to delete, retract, and apologize for accusing her of having an extramarital affair with a soccer player.
She stated that despite her passion for Matthew, she did not have a sexual relationship with him, as implied by Sonia’s social media posts, which were not only defamatory and incorrect, but also inaccurately represented her as a woman with questionable morals.
She stated that she met with Matthew and traveled with him to discuss business after forming a deal with his non-profit organization, Booth Trust.
In addition, she threatened to press criminal charges against Sonia for probable revenue loss.
But in the evidence we have seen, Sonia insists that Mthombeni-Moller and Matthew had a secret affair, and that she has all the receipts; she is also prepared to call witnesses to court to verify her account if Mthombeni-Moller pursues the defamation suit against her.
“Before addressing matters in limine, I would want to state that I maintain the applicant and my husband are or were having an affair at the time I wrote about it on numerous social media platforms. Sonia’s affidavit stated, “I have a number of witnesses who are eager to testify in court.”
Due to the urgency with which she was required to compose the document, she was unable to obtain affidavits from the aforementioned witnesses, she stated.
Sonia stated that Mthombeni-Moller and Matthew accompanied each other to numerous places, including Leano Restaurant and Kolonaki, and will include photographs and text messages of the eyewitness she hopes to call as a witness in her defamation lawsuit.
“My husband and the applicant have made extended road trips in a car together, which I believe were romantic getaways for the couple. My husband not only frequents her residence, but she has also invited him to her Johannesburg home without my knowledge and in the absence of her spouse. The statement states that she and my husband attended social events without inviting me or her husband, or at least telling me of their activities.
She was surprised that neither Mthombeni-Moller nor Matthew had told her about their “excellent friendship.”
She stated that although Mthombeni-Moller had welcomed her husband to her home in Kyalami, she had never set foot in the home she shares with Matthew and their children in Eagles Canyon.
Sonia demanded that Mthombeni-Moller and Matthew celebrate Valentine’s Day in Polokwane, Limpopo, and even gave Matthew a bottle of fragrance.
Which married person spends Valentine’s Day with the husband of another woman? My spouse has also purchased flowers and prepared a cheesecake for the applicant. The applicant sits extremely near to my husband in public and occasionally rests her hands on his thighs.
“They sometimes even hold hands beneath the table. “Because my husband is married to a black lady, this public display of affection has led some individuals to believe that the applicant is my husband’s spouse,” the affidavit states.
Sonia further stated that Matthew never introduced her to Mthombeni-Moller, despite the fact that she is a co-founder of the trust.
She said that Mthombeni-request Moller’s should be denied since it was not urgent. She stated that she did not comprehend why Mthombeni-Moller filed an urgent motion, given that she had written to her attorneys and pledged to stop tweeting about her and her husband’s alleged infidelity the previous month.
She claimed that her urgent application was nothing more than a fishing expedition to determine if Sonia had evidence of the alleged infidelity.
The matter, which was originally scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, will now be heard on Thursday, December 22.
