South-East London man’s residence burns down

Police have verified that a man in his 70s passed away as a result of a fire at a south London apartment.

Following reports of the fire, emergency services arrived quickly to Brook Drive, Elephant and Castle, about 10 am.

However, the victim, a guy in his 70s, was declared dead on the spot.

According to a police statement, an inquiry into the fire’s origin has been opened.

‘Emergency services were alerted just before 10am on Sunday, February 12, to a fire at a flat in Brook Drive, SE11,’ a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said.

Officers attended alongside their LFB and LAS coworkers. At the scene, a guy in his 70s was declared deceased.

“Investigations are being conducted to determine the cause of the fire.” No one has been arrested.
