Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided agricultural pesticides, seeds, fertilizers and agricultural tools to peanut producers in the city of Tondon in Dubreka situated 150 km far from the capital Conakry.
In Dubreka, the peanut producers working under the Regional Agriculture Office harvest 2-3 tons per hectare. TİKA provided them with agricultural materials so that they can plant peanuts in an area of 5 hectares.
Almamy Ali Camara, the Vice Governor of Dubreka gave a speech at the ceremony and said that the support in question will greatly benefit the locals and informed that some part of the profit to be made after the harvest will be used to supply food to the schools in the region.
Saidouba Sylla, the Agriculture Director of Dubreka, stated that he has been following all of the projects funded by TİKA in Guinea and said that the projects that have been realized so far have really touched the locals and gave them an important source of income.
TİKA’s Guinea Coordinator, Mehmet Özdemir, indicated that he is pleased that they have reached concrete results through the projects. Özdemir declared that TİKA will continue to support young, unemployed and disadvantaged groups in the agriculture sector.
