A huge fire at a warehouse in Sydney’s northern beaches area has resulted in the destruction of dozens of vintage cars, causing thick clouds of black smoke to cover the suburbs and forcing the closure of a major road.
The blaze, which broke out during the morning commute, consumed three warehouses, including one that reportedly housed numerous classic collectors’ cars.
Firefighters from NSW Fire and Rescue and Ingleside Rural Fire Brigade worked to put out the fire, and as of 10:12 am local time, the fire was said to be under control.
Public transportation was diverted away from the area, and passersby took to social media to share photos of the smoke clouds. The incident caused significant traffic disruptions, and authorities urged people to avoid the area.
