Variety stated that Taylor Swift will make her directing debut with her own original script.
Searchlight Pictures, the Oscar-winning firm behind “The Menu” and “The Shape of Water,” has hired the singer-songwriter to make her first feature-length picture.
Taylor is a once-in-a-generation storyteller and artist.
David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, co-presidents of Searchlight, remarked, “It is a genuine pleasure and honor to work with her as she begins on this fascinating new creative path.”
As is customary, storyline and cast information are closely guarded, as Swifties are certain to begin searching for clues.
Swift co-directed the 2019 music video for “Me” and directed the music videos for “The Man” (2019), “Cardigan” (2020), “Willow” (2020), “Anti-Hero” (2022), and “Bejeweled” in recent years (2022).
Last year, her 14-minute short film “All Too Well,” which was combined with her top single of the same name, garnered Oscar attention.
Swift has voiced her desire to direct a film in the past. In recent years, she has increased her involvement behind the camera.
She just gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the video that won the Video of the Year MTV Video Music Award.
During the Toronto International Picture Festival, the actress described directing “All Too Well” as a “satisfying experience” and revealed her desire to make a film at the moment.
Swift stated, “I believe I will always want to portray human stories about human emotion.”
“I never say never, but I cannot envision myself filming an action scene. If that happens, it’ll be amusing character development, but at this time, I can see it heading in a more humorous, irreverent direction.”
Swift won the MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year in 2012 for the 14-minute short film she directed for her song “All Too Well.”
Swift’s admirers, notably Sam Bankman-Fried, are notoriously devoted to her and are expected to make anything she releases a success.
Swift stated that she intends to diversify her plotlines, despite her reputation for centering much of her work on past and present romances and heartbreaks.
“I don’t always envision myself delivering stories of severe, guttural heartbreak at your most formative age that debilitates you emotionally for years and then forces you to create scar tissue in order to move on with your life,” she added. “I believe I have done that.”
