A youngster from Cape Town was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon, just hours before his matriculation results were to be released.
According to a report by News24, a group of guys thought to be gangsters drove up to a convenience store and shot Wakeel Dreyer 17 times.
The spokesperson for the Western Cape police, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, stated that the body of the 18-year-old student was discovered on the scene shortly after 16:00.
He stated that a murder case is being investigated.
The victim’s body sustained multiple gunshot wounds. On arrival, medical staff pronounced the subject dead.
“The unidentified suspects fled the scene and have not yet been apprehended. “The motive for the attack remains unknown,”
“When I heard that he had been killed, I rushed to the location and discovered that his body had already been covered.
“I then responded, ‘No, that is not my son,’ hoping he would leave the store. The moment they removed the covering from his face, I immediately began wailing and shouting. How even is this possible? My son, my precious boy, has passed away so suddenly,”
Funeral arrangements for Wakeel are currently being made.
On Monday, there will also be a memorial ceremony in the neighborhood.
