Tennessee stated in a statement that standout quarterback Hendon Hooker would miss the remainder of the collegiate football season due to a ruptured ACL.
Hooker sustained the injury during the fourth quarter of South Carolina’s 63-38 defeat at Williams-Brice Stadium. The probable NFL draft selection needed assistance leaving the field and staggered back to the locker room.
The redshirt senior was instrumental in reviving a struggling Volunteers football team and transforming Tennessee (9-2) into the No. 9 team in the nation and a candidate for the College Football Playoff.
Tennessee stated in a statement that Hendon’s extraordinary journey has been marked by faith, tenacity, and strength. On his quest to greatness, obstacles have never stood in his way.
Hooker established himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks in Tennessee history by posting Heisman Trophy-worthy stats in 2022. The senior accumulated 3,135 yards and scored 27 touchdowns. In addition, he averaged a quarterback rating of 89.6, which was second-best in college football.
