Rajan raised concerns that with only a year left until the next election, it was not enough to set out plans closer to the election.

He asked Reeves what else Labour would do on childcare and whether they were against the freezing of tax thresholds.

Reeves responded by saying they would back the childcare plans and that they wanted taxes to be as low as possible, but this would only be possible if they grew the economy.

Rajan pressed Reeves for more details on what Labour’s plan for growth was and what they would do differently from the Conservatives.

However, Reeves continued to avoid answering the question directly, instead mentioning President Biden’s plan for growth.

Rajan tried to bring the focus back to the freezing of tax thresholds, which he argued was a big concern for many people struggling financially.

Reeves acknowledged the concern but continued to emphasize the need for economic growth.

The interview revealed Reeves’ difficulty in providing concrete details on Labour’s policies, especially on tax policies.

Rajan’s persistent questioning highlighted the importance of having clear plans and proposals for voters to consider when deciding who to vote for.
