The White House has replied to Arthur Fraser’s allegations, claiming that there is no evidence of illegal activity.
On June 1, Fraser, the former Director-General of the State Security Agency, filed a criminal complaint at the Rosebank Police Station.
Fraser said in his statement that the president is responsible for the alleged theft of about $4 million (R62 million) from Ramaphosa’s Limpopo property.
Photographs, bank accounts, video footage, and names that accompany Fraser’s police statement are among the evidence that supports the allegations, according to Fraser.
“The charges emanate from the theft of millions of US dollars, (in excess of four million US dollars) concealed within the premises of the President’s Phala Phala farm in Waterberg, Limpopo, by criminals who were colluding with his domestic worker. They also include defeating the ends of justice, kidnapping of suspects, their interrogation on his property and bribery.”
Fraser argues that not only was the money stolen with the president’s knowledge, but that he also failed to report it to the appropriate authorities.
While a robbery at the farm can be substantiated, the money stolen originated from the sale of game, according to the Presidency.
The Presidency maintains Ramaphosa was not in the country at the time of the incident, but that he will fully cooperate with any probe.
“President Ramaphosa remains resolute in leading the fight against corruption, restoring the integrity and capability of public institutions and overcoming the legacy of state capture, and will not be deterred by disinformation campaigns.”
