A 58-year-old British man drowned off the coast of Tenerife while a child watched on in horror.

The incident occurred near the Punta de Teno lighthouse, situated at the northwestern end of the island.

The man was rescued from the sea by two people, including a nurse who performed CPR on him until emergency responders arrived.
