On Monday, it was revealed that Aslef, the union representing the majority of Tube drivers, has called for strikes on Wednesday, July 26, and Friday, July 28, due to concerns over proposed changes to their pensions and working conditions.
Finn Brennan, the organizer for Aslef on the London Underground, explained that this latest strike is part of an ongoing campaign by the unions to resist TfL’s proposed “modernization” efforts, which they believe will have negative effects on working practices.
Brennan stated, “We take action only when needed.
Unfortunately, the last few weeks have shown that London Underground management are determined to try to push through detrimental changes – despite trade union opposition – if they think they can get away with it.”
