Two drivers have lost their lives in a head-on collision that occurred on the Lincoln Highway on the upper Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The crash happened at around 7.30am on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as a 37-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, both residents of Whyalla. The woman was driving a Toyota RAV4, while the man was driving a Toyota Hilux.
A 27-year-old colleague of the male driver survived the crash but sustained severe injuries. He was taken to Whyalla Hospital for medical attention.
The South Australia Police’ acting superintendent Damien Eichner stated that it is a miracle that one person survived such a catastrophic crash.
He expressed gratitude that at least one life was saved but acknowledged that the survivor has sustained serious injuries that would have a lasting impact on his life.
