In connection with the murder of a young municipal employee who was shot dead inside her Liverpool home, two more persons have been detained.
Ashley Dale, 28, was fatally shot inside her house in the city’s Old Swan neighborhood when a shooter broke through her door and started firing.
In what is believed to be a case of mistaken identification, Miss Dale was shot in the abdomen. She subsequently fainted in the backyard of the house, where a neighbor saw her.
On Sunday, August 21, at about 12.40 am, emergency services were contacted. When they arrived, they discovered Miss Dale in the backyard with a fatal gunshot wound.
According to the police, a man, 31, and a woman, 23, both from St Helens, have been detained on suspicion of aiding an offender.
Both were detained for questioning but have since been released while an investigation is ongoing.
Miss Dale’s murder was one of three fatal shootings that occurred in Liverpool within a week, the others being the shooting deaths of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, 9, on August 22 in her Dovecot home and Sam Rimmer, 22, on August 16 in Dingle.
The investigation into Miss Dale’s death has resulted in a total of 11 arrests, all of which are still being investigated or are out on conditional bail.
It comes days after Merseyside Police published surveillance images of a vehicle they suspect was in the vicinity where Miss Dale was shot and died just before the incident.
A few hours before to the shooting, a dark grey Hyundai i30 N was seen traveling in the Page Moss neighborhood, but police have not yet located it.
We now think that this Hyundai i30 N automobile was driven in the districts of Dovecot and Page Moss on the evening of Ashley’s murder, including on Pilch Lane, stated Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings last week.
“I want to continue to appeal to everyone who lives in these regions and may have any knowledge about this automobile as we attempt to collect all available evidence,” he said.
This might include discovering who was driving, seeing someone being picked up, or obtaining further photos or video using CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell equipment. We also want the current location of the automobile.
Do not presume that what you know or have recorded is unimportant or that we already know it.
It everything contributes to investigators putting up an evidence picture, which may, of course, take time. “A tiny item might have significant importance, and we will evaluate everything that comes in and make that judgement.”
