A UK ticket-holder has claimed their share of the £138 million EuroMillions jackpot, which was won by three players.
The winning tickets were purchased in the UK, France, and Switzerland, and the UK winner has staked their claim for a £46.2 million prize.
This marks the first UK EuroMillions jackpot win in 2023, according to Camelot.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at the National Lottery, expressed his excitement about the news and said that their focus now is to support the ticket-holder through the process of validating and receiving their prize.
Once that is done, the winner will have the option to either go public or remain anonymous.
Last year, six EuroMillions jackpot winners in the UK took home prizes totaling more than £820 million.
The biggest win of 2022 was £195 million from the draw on July 19, and the winner chose to remain anonymous.
Commentary:
Winning the lottery is always exciting news, and this £46.2 million prize is undoubtedly life-changing for the UK ticket-holder.
It’s interesting to see that the jackpot was split among three players in different countries, showing the wide reach of the EuroMillions lottery.
Additionally, the fact that the UK didn’t have a EuroMillions jackpot winner in 2023 until now adds to the excitement of this particular win.
It’s worth noting that the option to remain anonymous is a common one for lottery winners, as it allows them to maintain their privacy and avoid unwanted attention.
