Ukraine is preparing to bid for the 2030 World Cup

In its attempt to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Ukraine will join Spain and Portugal, according to a Monday article in The Times.

According to the idea, which is thought to have received the approval of the governments of Spain and Portugal as well as Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Ukraine would host one of the groups in the tournament, The Times reported.

Soccer officials from Spain and Portugal are expected to make the announcement of the new alliance on Wednesday during a press conference held at the offices of UEFA, the European soccer governing organization.

FIFA, which oversees the World Cup and is the sport’s global governing body, and UEFA have been approached by Reuters for comment.

The 2022 World Cup will start on November 20 in Qatar, while the 2026 World Cup will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
