According to the parents of a victim, the investigation into the savage stabbing murders of four University of Idaho students is sluggish and laborious because the perpetrator was “sloppy” and left a “mess” of evidence behind.
Police have informed Steve and Kristi Goncalves, whose daughter Kaylee was one of four students slain at an off-campus residence on November 13, that it would take time to examine the chaotic crime scene.
Steve Goncalves told Fox News on Sunday, “They’re telling us that there’s so much evidence that it’s going to take a long time to review it all.”
“This was not a targeted crime. This individual was sloppy.”
The devastated parents stated that authorities have not been able to confirm if they have the suspect’s DNA, but that a mobile unit has been set up at the scene of the heinous murder in an effort to “speed things up.”

Her father stated that the killer “left a mess there, and they’ll have to go through it point by point.”
During a news conference on Sunday, authorities from the Moscow Police Department asked for patience as the investigation into the triple killing enters its second week.
The police continue to suspect that the incident was premeditated, but they cannot disclose any other information.
“It was a sophisticated and heinous crime, and it will take some time to solve,” said James Fry, chief of police in Moscow.

“We feel they are targeted because we consider the totality of the situation. Do we know who was specifically targeted?” Fry stated.
Due to our ongoing investigation, we are unable to comment at this time, but we continue to think that.
Authorities think that the four students, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, Ethan Chapin, and Goncalves, were stabbed to death early on the morning of November 13. Chapin was in a relationship with Kernodle, and the three ladies lived together.
Two of the victims were located on the second floor, while the other two victims were located on the third story. According to investigators, they were stabbed many times, and some suffered defensive wounds.
According to investigators, several housemates and friends were there at the time of the horrible murder.

Two other housemates were there but have been eliminated as suspects. The 911 call was placed by one of Fry’s roommates, but he refused to reveal which one.
Additionally, the police chief confirmed that additional acquaintances arrived at the residence around the time of the 911 call.
Fry said that investigators felt Goncalves and Mogen’s calls to an unknown individual were unrelated to the crime.

Goncalves’ parents told Fox News Digital that they felt their daughter’s ex-boyfriend Jack was not engaged in the crime.
“Their time is being wasted with Jack. Jack is as distressed as we all are. Jack is a member of our family, said her mother, Kristi Goncalves.
Fry stated that law enforcement has received over 600 tips and conducted 90 interviews in the past week, but authorities are still uncertain as to where the killer or killers may be hiding.
“We are searching anywhere the evidence may lead.
“I cannot say if the individual is here or in what town they reside,” stated the chief. “We are use every available resource to pinpoint the individual’s whereabouts.”
Police first asserted that there was no threat to the neighborhood following the gruesome find, but then recanted and asked community residents to remain watchful.
Police stated that they are also searching beyond state boundaries for the suspect(s).
