According to the Los Angeles Times, residents along Range View Avenue have been receiving unrequested deliveries of chicken sandwiches, milkshakes, pastries, coffee, and other items from food delivery services like Uber Eats.

The deliveries started in February and some people reported receiving multiple orders per day. It is unclear if the orders are part of a scam or prank.

Residents have noted that the delivery drivers have not been able to provide much information about who is placing the orders.

This is either because they don’t know or because the deliveries are using the names of other people.

Some residents have been consuming the food, others have been throwing it away, and still, others have been donating it to local charities.

One resident, Will Neal, who is a documentary filmmaker, joked about the situation, saying that it is “kind of remarkable what they are able to do with a pancake sandwich.”

Neal received four unrequested McDonald’s McGriddles at his home on February 25, which was the first of 40 mysterious deliveries to his home.

Dean Sao, a carpenter at nearby Pasadena City College, told the outlet that he doesn’t trust the food and is throwing it away.

He joked that “It must be Elon Musk – I don’t know who else could afford it.”

Morgan Currier, who received 30 deliveries, had the delivery driver call the number associated with the order, but it had been disconnected.

An Uber spokesperson has said that the company is investigating the source of the orders and has “taken action” against a number of accounts.

The company is also monitoring orders sent to that section of Highland Park.
